We drove about 40 miles south west of town to the Cochiti Pueblo where a unique landform known as Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is located. Thanks to those hard working Washington legislators it was reopened.

The land was formed millions of years ago when volcanos exploded with pumice and ash that then settled on the earth like snow. The pumice and ash deposits where over 1000 feet thick. The ash was blown around and then compressed to make layers of rock.
Water and wind eroded the rock to form the hoodoos we see today
Our hike took us through a slot canyon
