Death Valley was a revelation . It's the largest National Park in the lower forty eight states. The topography was surprisingly varied and it has been designated a "Dark Sky" park which means minimal nighttime park lighting and spectacular night sky's. In addition, a good part of the park is below sea level.
We loved hiking the many canyons along the valley.
