East Austin boasts four urban farms. We are staying at one of them and another is a short walk away.
I found this place on VRBO and rented it for our week in Austin. The weather is cool and wet so we were very happy to park the little guy and enjoy the lovely cottage.
I was a little afraid of Gustavo but he is really very friendly.
Dorsey and Gustavo welcomed us and gave a tour.
Chickens provide eggs and meat.
Rabbits usually roam free but it was cold so they were huddled together in the hutch today.
Even the crops were covered because of a hard frost warning.
The donkeys keep the weeds at bay (and they are just cool to have around).
One big happy farm family. Hausbar Farm supplies a number of local restaurants with produce, eggs and other products.
Next stop... The farm market around the corner.
Boggy Creek farm had rows of delicious greens planted.
Wonderful carrots and cheeses in addition to the greens.
Our next stop was @ Easy Tiger Bakery on 6th St. to get bread before going home to make breakfast.
If you have spent any time around geese you'd see how aggressive they can be. Remember our trip to Minneapolis when Paul was young and got attacked by the Canada Geese in the park?
