What a great town! It's bicycle friendly with miles of beaches and home to some pretty spectacular bathrooms. We camped@ Kohler-Andrae state park. The sand hill cranes nest here-we were glad to see them here after following their migration to New Mexico last year. On to Door County! We had a brief but fun stay in Chicago (more on Chicago when we return for the jazz fest@ the end of the month). Paul,Megan and Roxy bade us goodbye and we were off to Sheboygan! After months of dreaming and planning we have finally hit the highway. It turned out to be tough to leave Buffalo. Why? Buffalo is the city of good neighbors. Here are some of ours. They also have great parades. Our journey started with some super slab touring on Route 90 to Maumee State Park just east of Toledo, OH. The park has been in existence for thirty years on Lake Erie. It's near the outlet of the Maumee River, one of the most polluted rivers in the U.S. Our first camp spot of the journey. The park has 240 camp sites but none of the other sites in our loop were occupied, so it was very quiet and peaceful. We are finishing the last few items on our to do list and plan to leave for the big adventure tomorrow. We even found someone to stay in our house!! |
