Joshua Tree National Park straddles two derserts. The Mohave and the Sonoran. Joshua trees are found mostly in the Mohave. Joshua trees are actually a type of agave yucca.
These "trees" have a very prehistoric appearance.
The park is known for it's eroded rock piles and is a favorite of rock climbers.
Even if you have no technical skills- it's fun to scramble through the boulders.
Our first day in the park was cold and grey. It's still very much winter here. It rained for two days straight.
